CEO Bob Heil Named NKY Chamber Walter R. Dunlevy Frontiersman Award Winner
The Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce (NKY Chamber) has named Bob Heil, CEO of KLH Engineers (KLH), as the recipient of the Walter R. Dunlevy Frontiersman Award. Established in 1968, the award recognizes an individual who has a lifelong history of outstanding service to the Northern Kentucky community, exhibits outstanding service to their profession or industry, and exemplifies the highest standards of personal integrity and family responsibility. Heil will be recognized at the Annual Dinner on Thursday, September 5, 2019, at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center.
A native Kentuckian, Heil grew up in Newport and currently lives and works in Fort Thomas. His enduring commitment to the region is evident in his extensive service. Heil is a founding member of the Northern Kentucky Regional Alliance, is chair of the Northern Kentucky Tri-Ed Board of Directors, and serves on the Duke Energy OH/KY Advisory Council and the NKY Chamber Business Advocacy Committee. He previously served as chair of the NKY Chamber, the Campbell Leadership Action Group, and the Dean’s Advisory Board of the Northern Kentucky University Haile/US Bank College of Business.
As CEO of KLH Engineers, Heil encourages his employees to get involved in the community. He formed Keep Lending a Hand, a community service program dedicated to supporting the firm’s employees in their charitable work and improving the regions in which they live, work and play. In 2018, KLH aided 37 nonprofits by volunteering 468 hours and giving $17,961 in donations.
Heil has also been recognized for his dedication and service to the City of Fort Thomas. In 2015, Mayor Eric Haas declared October 1 as “Bob Heil Day” for his service to the Fort Thomas Planning Commission, Cultural Board and the Midway There Board.
“I am truly humbled to be receiving the Walter R. Dunlevy Frontiersman Award. The past award recipients are a virtual who’s who of leaders who have helped to shape the Northern Kentucky Community. I am grateful to the many leaders who encouraged me to express my voice in the community and for my family’s continual support of my passion to build a stronger Northern Kentucky,” said Heil.
