Kohrs Lonnemann Heil Engineers, Inc. (KLH Engineers), a national mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) engineering firm, has unveiled several new subscription-based software bundles for MEP engineering and model management. Designed to customize Autodesk® Revit®, the add-ins enable design teams to reduce modeling times, enhance quality and increase profitability.

“At KLH, we’re redefining the tools of the trade to empower the entire AEC industry,” stated Jim Tavernelli, president and COO. “Our journey into developing custom Revit solutions was born from a vision to break free from the inefficiencies that have long plagued our field. Our custom tools are the product of years of development and fine-tuning, and we’re excited to offer them to our peers in the industry. By sharing our innovations, we’re enabling engineers, architects and contractors to harness the full potential of BIM, fostering a new era of efficiency and data-driven decision-making that benefits us all.”

KLH Engineers began developing Revit add-ins in 2016 and became an Autodesk Authorized Developer in 2020. Last year, the 141-person firm saved 16.5 percent of its direct cost of services by optimizing workflows and reducing design times with its in-house software tools.

Following a successful beta test group which resulted in several new software clients, KLH Engineers now offers four bundled options of the full product suite. A free 30-day trial of the complete set is also available for download on KLH Engineers’ website and the Autodesk App Store. The bundles include:

  • General Bundle – contains 17 tools designed to eliminate inefficient tasks while enhancing quality and increasing profitability. Designers can quickly edit parameters in bulk, duplicate and flip families, match the location of tags and parameters, unhide elements and more.
  • Electrical Bundle – contains three tools which provide a quality control check with linked equipment throughout design and standardizes processes in circuiting and trade coordination between other engineering trades.
  • Mechanical Bundle – contains three tools that improve design and construction coordination, create isometric views in bulk, and quickly match elevations of ductwork, piping and sloped piping.
  • Model Management Bundle – contains two tools that enable model managers to standardize workflows, reduce model set up time and easily create levels, views and sheets.

The tiered subscriptions are based on the number of users and renew annually. An ROI calculator is available on the website to quantify potential dollars and time saved for each of the bundles. Training and support includes an introductory two-hour training session, unlimited access to online instructional videos and email support.

In addition to the product bundles, KLH Engineers offers custom software engineering and consulting services. The firm conducts discovery calls and on-site visits to tailor recommendations to client software and process needs.

KLH Engineers is also utilizing machine learning to provide clients a 2D AutoCAD to 3D Revit model conversion service. Models are converted up to five times faster than traditional conversion methods, enhancing design team productivity. KLH Engineers continues to leverage emerging trends in technology and the influence they will have on the AEC industry.
