Bob Heil, PE, executive director of strategic relationships and community engagement at Kohrs Lonnemann Heil Engineers, Inc. (KLH Engineers), has been named an honoree of Gateway Community and Technical College’s third annual Gateway to Greatness Awards Luncheon. The event will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2024, at Drees Pavilion in Covington, Kentucky, from 11:30 – 1:30 a.m. EDT.

Heil, a member of the firm since 1987, began his career as a project engineer and ascended to the roles of president, CEO and chair of the board. His strategic vision coupled with a genuine care for employee well-being played a pivotal role in solidifying KLH’s standing as a leader in engineering excellence and community engagement.

Beyond the walls of KLH’s headquarters in Ft. Thomas, Heil has passionately worked to help transform the Northern Kentucky region. He is a founding member of the OneNKY Alliance and currently serves as the Board Chair. In addition, he serves on the BE NKY Growth Partnership Board of Directors, CHNK Behavioral Health Board of Trustees, Duke Energy Ohio Kentucky Advisory Council, NKY Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee, Northern Kentucky University Haile College of Business Dean’s Advisory Board, and Campbell Leadership Action Group. In past civic roles, he also served as the board chair for the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and BE NKY Growth Partnership.

Heil earned an associate degree in electric power technology from Cincinnati State, a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Kentucky, and a master’s degree in executive leadership and organizational change from Northern Kentucky University.

“I am grateful for Gateway to recognize the work that I do in our region but much more grateful for the great work that Gateway does to educate and train our future workforce. Gateway is putting individuals and families on a trajectory of prosperity,” said Heil.

The Gateway to Greatness Awards Luncheon will also honor Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) for their ongoing partnership and continued support of the college’s Workforce Solutions Division and advanced manufacturing programs.
