KLH Engineers Announces Key Leadership Appointments

10.29.24

Kohrs Lonnemann Heil Engineers, Inc. (KLH Engineers), a nationally recognized engineering firm, has announced two key appointments supporting its strategic growth initiatives. Matt Debevec, PE, LEED AP, has been named chief operating officer, while Adam Pulskamp has been appointed retail market practice leader. These leadership changes reflect KLH’s commitment to innovation and operational excellence. Debevec and Pulskamp, members of KLH’s renowned retail team—ranked among the top 20 engineering and engineering architecture (EA) firms in the retail sector by BD+C Giants 400—have also been recognized as ICSC CenterBuild Leaders Under 40.

Debevec, who succeeds Jim Tavernelli as COO, is a seasoned engineer with over 20 years of experience in the engineering and construction industry. He brings a wealth of expertise in leadership, operations management, engineering and project delivery. Debevec began his career at KLH in 2003 as an associate mechanical designer, focusing on HVAC, plumbing, fire protection design, and project and account management for high-profile national accounts in the retail, commercial and hospitality markets. A principal since 2013, Debevec has held various leadership roles, driving business development, sales and operations. With a passion for coaching and building teams, he has been instrumental in the leadership development and coaching programs, the development of the firm’s core values, and the implementation of strategic firm initiatives. Debevec holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology from the University of Dayton and a master’s degree in executive leadership and organizational change from Northern Kentucky University.

Pulskamp, who steps into Debevec’s former role as retail market practice leader, has been instrumental in transforming KLH into a data-centric engineering firm. Previously, as the Columbus region market practice leader, Pulskamp oversaw client relationships and account management in the Columbus metropolitan area as well as the national retail market practice. Since joining KLH in 2014, he has also served as a project manager on mixed-use commercial and retail developments as well as multisite rollout and prototype development for retail and restaurant clients. Additionally, he collaborates with financial and luxury clients to expand their presence in the U.S. Pulskamp will continue to be a key figure in the Columbus market, fostering client relationships and maintaining his active involvement in volunteer and philanthropic efforts within the community. He holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati and is active in volunteering with the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Columbus and Stonewall Sports.

These appointments reinforce KLH’s strategic focus on growth and delivering cutting-edge engineering solutions.

“Our firm’s growth over the past eight years has set the stage for this next phase of leadership,” said Jim Tavernelli, president and CEO. “As KLH evolves, so does the need for leaders like Matt and Adam. Matt’s detail orientation and execution competency make him an ideal fit for COO. His passion for organizational development, balanced with managing the firm’s operational needs has been integral to enhancing our incredible culture. Adam, with his unique ability to build genuine client relationships paired with his strong project management skills and charismatic leadership style, is a natural choice to lead our retail market practice while continuing to be an influence in the Columbus market. These well-deserved appointments elevate KLH in strengthening its consulting practice to create meaningful and lasting partnerships.”
