Indigenous Pact Modular Program
In collaboration with Demain, Boldt and Boulder Associates, KLH spearheaded the MEP design and engineering for a series of modular healthcare clinics. Our role was led by the ambitious goal set by Indigenous Pact: to create health equity for American Indians and Alaska Natives in one generation
From the outset, KLH committed to enhancing efficiency and expediting delivery. By working closely with trade partners and manufacturers, we navigated the complex challenge of selecting the right equipment to meet stringent manufacturing schedules without compromising on quality. Our team’s deep involvement in the design phase enabled us to lead coordination efforts effectively, integrating fabrication parts and detailing essential components like hangers directly into the model. This proactive approach ensured a design that was not only ready for manufacturing but also optimized for modular construction. Productizing MEP systems to integrate seamlessly into clinic designs not only supports quality healthcare delivery but also enhances accessibility in remote areas, overcoming challenges associated with local labor shortages.
The logistical hurdles of transporting modular units over 1,800 miles required meticulous planning. Everything from roof-mounted equipment to overall module dimensions were designed to fit within transport limits. Our strategic reduction of mateline connections exemplified our commitment to reducing onsite labor and simplifying assembly, further streamlining the construction process.
KLH is dedicated to ongoing innovation to streamline both construction and design phases, reducing costs and scheduling to allow modular projects to compete effectively with traditional stick-built structures. This commitment ensures that our modular healthcare clinics not only meet the high standards required for healthcare facilities but also achieve a speed to market that sets new industry benchmarks.
