Newport on the Levee
KLH has been a trusted advisor for the widely popular Newport on the Levee development, located on the south shore of the Ohio River in Greater Cincinnati. The firm’s involvement began in the late 1990’s when the original venue was designed and constructed.
The original development included nine separate buildings, all of which share a common two-level plaza, and contained over 400,000 square feet of retail and entertainment spaces. Below the retail center is a four-level, 552,000-square-foot, enclosed parking garage. The firm provided white box design for numerous tenants and provided tenant fit out design for Johnny Rockets, Istanbul Café, Coldstone Creamery and Shadowbox Cabaret.
KLH Engineers also provided engineering design services for the 92,000-square-foot Newport Aquarium also located at The Levee. The project included a chilled water system, a dehumidifying system, a generator and back-up generator, cafés, retail shops, a tunnel system and an entertainment center with a theater. The firm recently completed design of a new 20,000-square-foot addition housing new exhibit space and a VIP dining facility.
As time has evolved so too has the use of the Newport on the Levee. KLH is currently working with new ownership to modernize the complex and repurpose space for new attractions.
