Northern Kentucky University Student Success Center

This project entailed the renovation of the Northern Kentucky University (NKU) University Center to create a one-stop center for student services, otherwise known as the Student Success Center. This project transformed the existing space into an engaging, student-centered location for student advising, collaboration and customer service.

This centralized approach offers seamless delivery of services to students including academic advising, intervention services for freshmen students, records and registration, financial aid, student account billing and payment, IT customer service, veteran services, first-year programs and more. The space houses the all-card office, open computer laboratories, and the office of general education as well as a large meeting room. The facility also includes a technology commons area where students can obtain technology assistance, do group work using technology, and use emerging technologies to support their academic work. The most critical aspect of the Student Success Center is the advising component with its strategy for targeted intrusive advising very early in a student’s first semester at NKU. This model improves NKU’s ability to effectively assist students in meeting their educational goals.
