Ruth Moyer Elementary School
Ruth Moyer Elementary School is the latest addition to the Ft. Thomas City Schools in Northern Kentucky and boasts a broad diversity where 21 languages are spoken among over 540 students. The culture of the school is a growth mindset where students, teachers and administration live by a motto that “Mistakes are proof that you are TRYING.” Here, students excel in math, science, engineering, technology, foreign languages, social sciences and literature in a state-of-the-art facility.
The 70,000-square-foot elementary school includes classrooms, a library and a media center. This project consisted of a renovation and addition to the original school structure spanning three years. Great attention was paid to the phasing of the construction to minimize disruption to the students and teachers’ daily programs. The facility features geo-thermal heating, daylight harvesting and the newest technology and security.
Moyer is a two-time Blue Ribbon School recipient (2009; 2016) from the United States Department of Education.
