The Legacy From Log Still Distillery
KLH Engineers spearheaded the lighting, electrical and audio/visual designs, as well as construction administration services, for the Legacy From Log Still Distillery. Nestled in the heart of New Haven, Kentucky, this premier, 18,000-square-foot wedding and event venue boasts a chapel, banquet hall and outdoor amphitheater.
At the main entrance, lighting designers carefully hid luminaires within the exterior truss work, creating a captivating entryway from the outside. The up lighting of wood cross bracing and façade washing beckons visitors inward. Additional lighting layers, such as pendant downlights and surface mounted cylinders, aid in wayfinding while seamlessly blending into the background, allowing the truss work to be the main attraction. Responding to the owner’s directive to tell the story of the bourbon barrel’s role in the distillation process, our designers illuminated wooden barrels above the main entrances with high-performance spotlights mounted across the breezeway.
The versatile chapel room seats up to 350 for weddings and can be partitioned for smaller gatherings. KLH designed the sound system, white noise system and lighting for this flexible space. Designers provided two layers of light with general task lighting from pendant cylinders and concentric ring chandeliers which complement the story behind the bourbon barrel. The chapel room is controlled by a zone control system that allows for multiple scene control given the function in the space. Bride’s and groom’s dressing rooms were also incorporated into the chapel area, each providing a unique experience. With bright finishes and specialty lighting throughout the space, the bride’s room includes mirrored seating space and a lounging area. The groom’s room provides a rustic feel with specialty lighting, a bar and changing/seating space.
For larger events, the banquet hall caters up to 700 people. KLH designed the lighting control system, DMX stage lighting system and sound system, so it is equipped to accommodate all types of live entertainment and receptions.
Lastly, KLH designed the power and lighting for the expansive 80+ acre campus. This includes the outdoor amphitheater, roadway and walking path lighting, as well as the campus underground electrical and communications infrastructure.
